Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to what New York homeowners and store owners ask us most — what a system costs, what free standard installation covers, how phone viewing works, how long footage is kept, and how we handle the install. Don’t see your question? Send us a message and we’ll walk you through it.
Home systems generally start around $1,099 for a four-camera setup and go up from there with more cameras, higher resolution, and longer cable runs. Store and office systems are quoted after we see the space, because layout and coverage vary a lot between properties. We book a $49 on-site visit to measure the job, and that $49 is credited toward your install if you go ahead.
Standard installation covers mounting your cameras in the agreed spots, running cable within normal scope, setting up the recorder and storage, and configuring the SafeZone mobile app, plus a walkthrough at the end. A few things can add cost — long cable runs, conduit or trenching, masonry, lift access, specialty mounting, electrical work, permits, or equipment beyond the package. We confirm any of that before any work starts, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
Yes. Every install includes live view and recorded playback from the SafeZone mobile app, on both iPhone and Android. We set up the app on your phone, add the people you want to have access, and show you how to pull up a clip before we leave.
Recordings are stored on the hard drive inside your recorder, and typical retention runs about 2 to 4 weeks before the oldest footage is overwritten. The exact window depends on the number of cameras, the resolution, how much motion they capture, and the drive size. We confirm the right storage for your setup at the site review, and we can size it for a longer window if you need it.
Yes. We install doorbell cameras so you can see and speak to whoever is at the door from your phone, and we tie them into the same SafeZone app as the rest of your cameras. That keeps the front door, the entrances, and the yard all in one place instead of separate apps.
Most homes are done in a single day. Stores and offices usually take one to two days, depending on the number of cameras, the cable routing, and the building. We give you a realistic time estimate with your quote, and we clean up after ourselves.
For a fixed install we usually recommend wired cameras. A wired connection is more reliable, the video quality holds up, and there is no battery to recharge. Wireless can make sense for a spot where running cable is impractical. We look at your building during the site visit and recommend what actually fits, rather than pushing one option for everyone.
For a standard camera install on your own property, a permit is usually not required. It can come into play with certain electrical work, exterior changes, or specific building or landlord rules. If your job needs a permit or landlord approval, we will flag it during the site review so you know up front. Always confirm your specific situation with your building or local authority.
Both. You can buy the system outright as a one-time installed price, or spread it over a 36-month plan. Optional monitoring and support plans are separate and run $29.99, $59.99, or $99.99 a month depending on the property — and they are optional, not required to use your cameras. We will walk you through which setup fits your budget.
All five New York City boroughs — Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island — plus Long Island. We also take projects in nearby New Jersey; just ask. If you are not sure whether you are in range, give us a call and we will tell you.
For stores, offices, and larger properties, we come out and look at the space before quoting. We check the layout, the blind spots, the wall types, and where cable can run, then give you an accurate price instead of a guess. The visit is $49, and that $49 is credited toward your installation if you move forward.
